General Information
In September 2002, Bahrain signed a long term deal with Bernie Ecclestone to host the first ever round of the F1 World Championship in the middle east.

The inaugural Grand Prix was scheduled for the memorable date of April 4th, 2004 (04/04/04).

A circuit was specially constructed at Sakhir, in the south of the country, at a cost of approximately US$150million.

The Bahrain Government underwrote the development of Bahrain International Circuit and sees the Circuit and the events as one of the keys to growth in employment and new skills to further enhance the economy and firmly put Bahrain on the world map.

The Grand Prix circuit is 5.411km long and includes twelve turns (5 to the left, 7 to the right).
