Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel will have to travel to Malaysia without any points. The German started from third and was well on his way to a podium finish when the collided with BMW Sauber F1 driver Robert Kubica. "It was a shame really, but these things happen," Vettel said after the race.
Vettel showed a stunning performance in Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's race but the young German suffered from a lack of grip towards the end of the race while Robert Kubica was on his way to catch Vettel. "At the start of the race I pushed and pushed to stay close to Button. If he would make one single mistake I could catch him. In the last stint though, on the softer compounds, Kubica was closing in on me really fast with him using the harder compound.
"Robert (Kubica) had a lot more grip and was much faster. When we entered the corner side-by-side I couldn't go anywhere but to collide with him. It is really a shame for the both of us but these things happen. We showed a promising performance here in Melbourne so I hope to continue that performance in Malaysia next weekend."
